Mrunal Thakur is undoubtedly one of the busiest and most versatile actresses in the industry right now. After a jam-packed 2023 and 2024the actress has lined up an equally exciting slate of projects. From Pooja Meri Jaan opposite Huma Qureshi, Dacoit alongside Adivi Sesh, Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan to Atlee’s next big venture with Allu Arjun, Mrunal has become a pan-Indian star with her ability to balance both Hindi and South Indian cinema.Yet, amid all the praise and recognition, Mrunal feels one major aspect of her personality has not been tapped into on the big screen—her love for dance. In an exclusive chat with ETimes in 2024 , the actress revealed that while she enjoys a diverse range of roles, she has rarely had the opportunity to showcase her dancing skills in films.
Mrunal Thakur apologizes for Bipasha Basu remark: 'My intent was never to body-shame'
“I love dancing, but somehow my films have not given me that chance yet,” she confessed. “All my co-actors love dancing. I worked with Hrithik Roshan between 2017–2018 for Super 30. Imagine being in a film with Hrithik and not getting to dance with him! That opportunity just never came.”Mrunal went on to reveal that she even teased Shahid Kapoor about the same. “I actually complained to Shahid during Jersey,” she said with a laugh. “The film was such a serious one, so I told him, ‘I need to do a chill film with you where I can dance.’
We never got that chance in Jersey, and I felt like something was missing.”Her experiences weren’t limited to just Hrithik and Shahid. Mrunal also mentioned that when she worked with Ishaan Khatter, their collaboration too didn’t have space for dance. “Even with Ishaan, I didn’t get that opportunity,” she admitted. But if her films didn’t allow her to groove, Mrunal made sure her social media did. She has been posting videos with her co-stars where she convinces them to shake a leg during promotions. These fun, spontaneous clips often go viral, and for Mrunal, they serve as an outlet for her passion. “So I post all these dance videos on Instagram. In films, I don’t get an opportunity to dance, so I make most of my co-stars dance for social media,” she smiled. But one can be assured that Mrunal can be seen dancing with Varun Dhawan as the videos of them dancing through Europe on the ‘Chunari
