'We are very quick to judge'; Triptii Dimri on criticism; Madhuri Dixit recalls early days

Actors Triptii Dimri and Madhuri Dixit recently shared their experiences regarding criticism and public judgement faced during different phases of their careers. Their comments surfaced as their upcoming film 'Maa Behen' moves closer to release. Despite belonging to different generations of cinema, both actresses spoke about challenges that reflected similar experiences.Talking to India Today, Triptii Dimri opened up about dealing with reactions connected to some of her projects, including discussions surrounding Animal. The actress admitted that while she attempts to remain unaffected publicly, criticism does leave an emotional impact. Sharing her thoughts, she said, "It is difficult. I try to put on a strong face sometimes and be like, 'No, it doesn't affect me. I don't get affected, or I am going to push it under the rug'. But it doesn't work that way, it does somewhere, pinch you." She also explained that despite criticism, she remains completely confident about the decisions she has made as an actor. Triptii said, "It is a film that I did, and I am proud of it. There is nothing about that film that I am not proud of. It is a choice that I made for myself, and I was comfortable with. And I think I am proud of every film that I have done, whether it is Bulbbul or whether it is Qala."The actress further explained that choosing different characters has always been an important part of her journey. According to Triptii, repeating similar roles limits growth and reduces opportunities to evolve as a performer. She said, "I think it is very important for me as an actor to make different choices. Otherwise, if you keep doing similar roles, then there is no growth for you. The intent has always been to do different roles and challenge myself a bit. Like when I got offered Maa Behen, I was like, 'This is so difficult. How will I ever do it?' And when I get that feeling, I know that this is something that I have to do." Triptii also expressed disappointment over how quickly women often become targets of criticism. "It is not fair, I feel. We are very quick to judge. And only the girl," Triptii said.Madhuri Dixit also reflected on her experiences from the beginning of her career. The actress remembered that acting was not always viewed as a conventional choice at that time. She revealed that after Abodh failed commercially, several people questioned whether she should continue acting. "They used to tell my mom, 'Why are you putting her in this? Don't spoil her life. Let her get her education first," the actor said.Madhuri credited her mother for encouraging her during uncertain moments and helping her stay focused on her goals. "My mom was amazing. She was such a strong woman. She said, 'Is this what you want to do?' I said yes. She said, 'Then you should do it. Because if you do something you love, you will never work a day in your life'." She also remembered receiving comments regarding her appearance during her early years. "She used to tell me, 'One day, when you get that one successful film, everything they say about you will change into positive feedback. So don't worry about anything. You just keep working," the actor said.Meanwhile, on the professional front, Triptii Dimri is also preparing for one of her major upcoming projects, Spirit, where she will appear opposite Prabhas.
