'Warning' team to face big challenges
Shooting in the middle of the Pacific Ocean was one of the biggest challenges for the team of Warning, directed by Gurmmeet Singh.
One of the tasks was to get the actors dialogues clearly recorded while shooting underwater. Since the mics were not water-resistant, a sound team was constantly present in small boats, holding boom mics above the actors. Despite all the technical hardships, however, there was no dubbing required.

Sound engineer Resul Pookutty explains, “The audibility of sound in water changes because of the currents and pressure. Initially, we believed things would be impossible, but it was a challenge I wanted to take up. Since the film was being shot in 3D, where close-ups were not possible and the crew had to take wider shots, we decided to keep the mics hanging between the two boats. The second challenge was to create a fearful and edgy sound for the shark. We were shooting in an uncontrolled environment, where sharks moved about swiftly and stealthily without making any noise. And Anubhav (Sinha, one of the producers) wanted them to look aggressive. That was possible only with the help of sound, thus we created an ocean in the recording studio and even used a metal tone to create that impact.”
Warning, produced by Eros International, Benaras Mediaworks Production and Alumbra Entertainment, releases September 27.
