Wamiqa Gabbi on taking a day off before starting the shoot for Raj & DK’s Rakt Brahmand to visit her family in Chandigarh: It felt like a mini vacation
Wamiqa Gabbi recently made a quick 24-hour trip to Chandigarh to visit her family while shooting in Delhi. After wrapping up her shoot for the day, she decided to drive home to surprise her family, especially her grandmother. She shared, “I hadn’t seen my family in almost four months, and it was especially important for me to visit my dadi. While my parents often come to Mumbai to see me, it had been even longer since I last met dadi. I couldn’t pass up the chance to spend a few hours with her. Just being with her and the family for a day felt like a mini vacation.”
Reflecting on her special bond with her grandmother, Wamiqa said, “I’ve always been close to my grandparents, and since losing my nani a few months ago, my time with dadi means even more to me. She has been my confidante and I discuss everything with her – my work, personal life, and more.”
She added, “Dadi and I had a fun salon session at home. She is open-minded and loves discussing new ideas and cultures. She especially enjoys hearing my travel stories. I truly value our discussions about my life and career. And of course, I miss my dadi ke haath ka khaana, especially her delicious dal!”
Wamiqa is now back in the city to commence shooting for Raj and DK’s Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom. Talking about her professional achievements, the actress won the Acting Excellence in a Supporting Role (Female) award for the spy thriller Khufiya at the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) 2023 – OTT edition. She had said, “I am overwhelmed with the win especially because it is for a special character as Charu from Khufiya. It is my first work with Vishal Bhardwaj sir. It has been such a beautiful learning experience, and I am absolutely thrilled to receive this award. It’s a validation for my work and coming from the highly respected Advisory Council and Screening Jury of TOIFA makes this recognition even more special.”
