In an interview with a news portal, his wife
Kamalrukh
revealed that the last few days of his life were very sad as he was unable to meet his family owing to the COVID-19.
Talking about her bond with late husband, Kamalrukh said that he was a wonderful man, a talented musician, but if there was one flaw in him, it was this: he wasn't strong-minded. According to her, he could be easily influenced, especially in matters of faith. She revealed that they used to fight about this, even after they had two kids. The last straw was when Wajid threatened to
divorce
her if she didn't convert. This was in 2014.
Elaborating further, Kamalrukh added that he used to leave and stay at his mother’s house, sometimes for months on end. Finally, she agreed for the divorce. However, even in court, she made her case about being under pressure to convert. The star wife also stated that Wajid’s career was at stake, which is why this never came out in the public, but this had been going on since 2014.
