After the blockbuster opening of her film Sandai, Ragini, the glamour girl from Malaysia, is now looking forward to Thee to hit the screens. Though I signed for Thee first, it was Sandai which got released. In Sandai, I played a role similar to what I am in real life, a college girl. But in Thee, I am a young mother with two kids. Was her move to act with the same hero, Sundar C, a planned one? No, she says.
My coming to movies itself was by chance.
She is a relative of actress Kushboo and a frequent visitor to Chennai. Her fluency in Tamil, she says, Has helped me understand the characters I play. I have never had problems with dialogue delivery. Though she is yet to dub for films, she would want to as, she believes, it gives an artiste a lot of satisfaction and involvement. Ragini, who has a degree in corporate communication from Western Michigan University in the US, worked with an event management company in Malaysia before entering films. How was it facing the camera for the first time? I was nervous. But my first shot was for a song and dance sequence in Switzerland and it was fun. The only difficulty was dancing in minus degree temperatures wearing a thin sari, she recalls. How was it working with Sundar C? He is so easy to work with. He is very simple and has helped me a lot, she replies.Ask her how it was to act with Nadiya in Sandai and she says that Nadiya is a professional who gave her a lot of tips on acting. Does Kushboo help her with acting lessons? No, not at all, even though I pester her, she tells me to listen to the director and act accordingly. The only advice my relatives and friends give me is not to rush into films. Is she adhering to that? Almost. Though I am getting many offers, I dont want to sign any before I know how Thee does. Will she be interested in pairing with Sundar C again? Not immediately, she says. After doing a few more movies, I wont mind acting with him again. Besides glam roles, what other roles excite her? I fell in love with the character of Neelambarithe one Ramya Krishnan did in Padaiyappa. I dream of doing roles with lots of guts, drama and character."
