Waarrior Savitri

', helmed by Hollywood based Param Gill, have officially announced August 25 as its release date. The controversial action film is a modern-day adaptation of the fable of Satyavaan and Savitri from Mahabharata. Om Puri plays Yamraaj with an all-international star cast toplined by Lucy Pinder, Tim Man, Ron Smoorenburg and Gulshan Grover. The film introduces Niharica Raizada, grand-daughter of legendary music composer OP Nayyar, in the lead role of Savitri. Rajat Barmecha (of 'Udaan' fame) plays Satyavaan.


The film, produced by Dr Harinder Kanda and Upendra Maheshwari of Dr Bob Productions, was earlier scheduled for a July 22 release but the VFX was taking them longer than expected. Three teams in US, Bulgaria and India have been working round the clock to complete the pending work on a bridal fight scene which takes place in the middle of a sandstorm.
From high-octane action scenes to the raw energy, the film has all the ingredients of an actioner. It features specialised action sequences in Wing Chun Kung Fu, a unique form of martial arts.
The film's trailer, which was launched by Sonu Sood, has registered a big number of hits online.
