Vivek Oberoi recently recently shared his struggles with finances during his career, talking about the uncertain nature of the film industry.
Speaking at a Franchise India event, Vivek mentioned that the film industry is unpredictable, where one moment you feel successful, with everyone eager to spend money on you, and the next, you might go through a tough phase for various reasons.
Oberoi also shared a personal story about how he once gauged his career success by the number of birthday bouquets he received. He explained that when things were going well, his house would be filled with bouquets from producers, directors, and co-stars. But when his films weren’t performing, the bouquets would decrease, making him realize he wasn't doing well.
Despite the challenges, Oberoi acknowledged the pressure on actors to maintain a certain lifestyle, which adds to their financial strain. He explained that his current independence allows him to turn down films he doesn’t believe in, unlike earlier when financial obligations like household expenses and EMIs forced him to accept any project. He pointed out that people often assume actors don't face the same problems as ordinary people, but they too have financial pressures, including the cost of maintaining a certain public image.
Oberoi’s journey in Bollywood has been a rollercoaster ride. He made a remarkable debut with Company in 2002 and earned praise for films like Saathiya and Yuva. However, his career took a downturn after a highly publicized feud with Salman Khan and a string of box office flops, leading to a period where he was sidelined by the industry.
In recent years, Oberoi has successfully revived his career with standout performances in projects like Inside Edge and Indian Police Force. With a fresh focus on diverse and meaningful roles, he is gradually rebuilding his standing in the industry. Fans are now eagerly following his journey as he takes on challenging projects and showcases his acting skills.
