Vivaan Shah on working with Shah Rukh Khan in 'Happy New Year': ‘His commitment to his work is something else’
Vivaan Shah was recently seen in'Ikkis' as Captain Vijendra Malhotra, sharing screen space with Agastya Nanda, who portrayed Arun Khetarpal. The film received strong appreciation following its release and marked a significant moment in Vivaan’s career. In a recent interview, the actor reflected on the response to the film and his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan in 'Happy New Year'.

Memories from Happy New Year and Shah Rukh Khan

In an interview with Mid-Day, looking back at Happy New Year, Vivaan Shah spoke about how the film changed his life. He said, “People recognised me on the streets because of it, especially kids. I was so honoured to be in the presence of all the people I grew up watching. Be it Abhishek, Boman Irani, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan — these are people I have grown up with.”Recalling his time with Shah Rukh Khan, Vivaan shared what stayed with him the most. “His kindness, generosity, humour, and commitment to work. His commitment to his work is something else. Also, he is hardworking, and he does not take himself too seriously. I think that is, in a nutshell, the greatness of that actor.” The experience, he says, continues to inspire him even today.

Bonding with Agastya Nanda on 'Ikkis'

Vivaan also spoke warmly about working with Agastya Nanda, praising his dedication and intellect, and calling the experience deeply fulfilling.
“He gave his life for this film. He is also a very intelligent and thoughtful person, with a brilliant mind and a vibrant intellect. I was very inspired by him.”He also noted an emotional coincidence, saying, “Interestingly, I was exactly his age when I worked with his mamu (Abhishek Bachchan). It’s almost like life is coming full circle in a way.” According to Vivaan, their off-screen bond naturally reflected in their on-screen dynamic.
