In an episode of The Bombay Journey with Mashable India, Gurdas Maan shared that the performance was actually a surprise orchestrated by Virat himself. The singer recalled in Hindi that while everyone had been invited, Virat hadn’t told him the real reason—despite being a big fan.

Maan revealed that the organisers were instructed not to disclose the event’s true nature to him—he was simply told he had a performance in Delhi. It wasn’t until he arrived that he realised he was at Virat and Anushka’s wedding reception. Embracing the surprise, he launched into his set, while Virat sweetly whispered Punjabi lyrics into Anushka’s ear as Maan performed.
