Vineet Kumar Singh: I studied medicine; parents didn’t want me to do films
Seen in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Mukkabaaz, Vineet Kumar Singh, was more focused into academics before he took a plunge into showbiz. While he did want to be an actor, it was because of the parental pressure that he took up medicine.
Talking about those times, Vineet told us, “I have studied medicine. I did MD in Ayurveda. Before I signed up for the course in medical college, my entire focus was on becoming an actor. I was sure ki main film industry mein hi aaunga. It was just that my parents didn’t want me to do films. They were scared because I didn’t know anyone. They were worried that I shouldn’t get lost in this world. But today I am happy and I have seen the happiness on the face of my parents.”
Sharing a memory, Vineet adds, “Aaj maa iss duniya mein nahi hai lekin jab amma aur papa ne Mukkabaaz screen pe dekhi they loved seeing me on screen. Unki jo muskaan thi usse keemti cheez mere liye kuch nahi ho sakti. They felt happy seeing me settled in the industry. Papa keeps saying bachchon ke safalta se badi koi cheez nahi hoti.”
In an earlier chat with us, Vineet had given credit to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for his success in movies. He had told us, “I feel lucky that Anurag Kashyap jaise director ne mujhme bharosa dikhaya. Yeh bohot badi baat hai ki actor ki talent mein koi bohot hi manjha hua, behtarein director apna bharosa dikhaye. Before I met Anurag sir, I was hoping that I get some work with which I can prove my talent as an artiste. It took 9-10 years to get there. Then finally I met Anurag sir who gave me a film like Gangs of Wasseypur. My real journey as an actor in Bollywood began only after I met Anurag Kashyap.”
