Harshvardhan Rane and
Mawra Hocane's 2016 romance drama Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in theatres on February 7. Since then, the film has been receiving immense love and appreciation from the audiences after its debacle in 2016 and it has already collected Rs 27.96 crore nett, a marked improvement from its original release earnings of around Rs 9 crore. The film's director
Vinay Sapru has now expressed his gratitude to
Himesh Reshammiya for providing the title for 'Sanam Teri Kasam'.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sapru shared that after completing the film and its songs, they still lacked a title. While working on the music with Himesh, he suggested, “I have a title that I think suits it perfectly: Sanam Teri Kasam.”
He recalled that after finishing the film and its songs, they still lacked a title. While working on the music, Himesh suggested, “I have a title that I think suits it perfectly: Sanam Teri Kasam.” Vinay immediately responded, “Sir, this is such a great title! Can you give it to us?” Himesh agreed, stating, “I love this film, and I love both of you—Radhika and Vinay. I want to give you this title.” They felt it was the perfect fit, noting that without Himesh’s contribution, the film would not have had the same name. Initially, they had been using a different working title as they composed the songs.
In concluding his thoughts, Sapru revealed that the first song created for 'Sanam Teri Kasam' was "Tera Chehra." He explained that while all the titles they considered were great, a crucial scene was shared with Himesh during the title track's development. In this scene, the protagonist sees Saru’s picture adorned with a garland and tells her father not to place it on her photo. Instead, he takes the garland and puts it around his own neck, expressing profound sorrow. At that moment, Himesh suggested, “I have the perfect title line for your film: ‘Durr jaaoge tum, mar jayenge… teri kasam.’”
