Vikramaditya Motwane claims Ranveer Singh starrer 'Lootera' was ‘not a flop’, says, 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’s failure was its marketing failure'

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s 2013 film 'Lootera' starring Ranveer Singh, based on author O Henry’s 1907 short story received a mixed response from the audience upon its release.

According to the trade experts verdict about the film was not great, as it failed to meet their expectations. But Motwane recently opened up on his film Lootera' and shared that the movie was not a flop, and claimed that nobody lost any money on it.

In an interview with a news portal, Motwane revealed that when 'Lootera' came out, everyone was like, ‘Flop, flop, flop’. The fact of the matter is the film made money. Nobody lost money on that film.


The filmmaker further added that it’s just that the fact that being Ranveer Singh’s next film or Sonakshi Sinha’s next film, there were expectations of a Rs 30 crore weekend, but it didn’t happen.

While commenting on 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’s failure, Motwane shared that Bhavesh’s failure was its marketing failure as well. He further added that there was something that didn’t click in the sense of being able to tap into the real audience that might have come in had they known the thing.
