Kangana Ranaut in ‘Manikarnika’ and ‘Panga’

Kangana Ranaut has played the role of a mother twice: ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Panga’. In ‘Manikarnika’, the actress loses a child and adopts one, while 'Panga' saw her essay the role of a working mom. In the Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directorial, Kangana portrayed the dilemma of a mom who struggles to keep her family together, while trying to revive her personal aspirations.

Kriti Sanon in ‘Mimi’

Kriti Sanon is yet to impress the audience with her act of a mother on the silver screen, but she has picked an interesting topic for the same. The actress will be seen essaying the role of a surrogate mother in ‘Mimi’. From her dreams of becoming an actress to ending up as a surrogate for a couple - director Laxman Utekar promises to capture the nuances of Mimi’s journey in this Hindi remake of a Marathi film.

‘The Sky is Pink’ saw Priyanka Chopra essay the role of a protective and strong mother to Zaira Wasim. Priyanka had revealed that she drew inspiration for her character of Aditi Chaudhary from her own mom, Madhu Chopra. PeeCee stated that she is best friends with her mother and her role in ‘The Sky in Pink’ was totally similar. “It was as if I was playing what my mother had been to me," PC had said, describing her role.

Vidya Balan in ‘Paa’

Amitabh Bachchan took everyone by surprise with his transformation in ‘Paa’, but Vidya Balan’s act as his mother was equally inspirational. The actress developed a convincing mother-son relationship with Big B in the film, which narrated the story of a 12-year-old boy named Auro (played by Amitabh Bachchan), who suffers from a rare genetic disorder called progeria. Speaking about the character, Vidya had told IANS, “It awakened the maternal instinct in me for the first time ever.”
