Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video: 'Mallika Sherawat thought we are approaching her for a dance number': Raaj Shaandilyaa- Exclusive

Mallika Sherawat, known for making a bold entry into Bollywood with films like Khwahish, Murder, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story, and Welcome, became one of the most talked-about actors in the mid-2000s. However, as the 2010s progressed, Sherawat gradually stepped away from mainstream cinema, with fewer film appearances.

After a significant hiatus, she’s now set to return in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s upcoming film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, co-starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. Director Raaj Shaandilyaa revealed how Sherawat became a part of the film. “I had written the role with Mallika Sherawat in mind. The film is set in 1997, and her character is that of a middle-class modern woman. When we initially approached her, she thought we were offering her a dance number,” Shaandilyaa shared in an exclusive interview with ETimes.

However, upon learning that the role had been written specifically for her, Sherawat quickly warmed up to the idea and signed on for the project. “When we clarified that the part was crafted just for her, she really liked the character and came on board immediately,” Shaandilyaa added.

Sherawat’s role in the film is that of a bold, courageous woman who is ahead of her time—an element that aligns with the strong, unconventional characters she has portrayed in the past.

Mallika seems to be paired opposite Vijay Raaz’s character in the film.
