'Vicky Donor' to 'Bala': When Ayushmann Khurrana showcased his versatility and left the audience impressed

National Award winner Ayushmann Khurrana seems to be unstoppable at the moment as the talented actor continues to dominate the box office with his unconventional choices of films raking in large numbers. The video jockey turned singer turned actor has not only carved a niche for himself in Bollywood but also established himself as one of the top actors in the industry.

Ayushmann, who made his debut on the silver screen in 2012 as a sperm donor in Shoojit Sircar's 'Vicky Donor' has never looked back and impressed the audience with his unique choices. With his recent release 'Bala' again hitting the bull's eye at the box office and at the same time impressing the critics as well, we take a look at the 35-year-old actor's impressive performances over the years which left the audience stunned.

Vicky Donor

Ayushmann Khurrana stepped into Bollywood as a sperm donor in Shoojit Sircar's 'Vicky Donor' and left the audience stunned with his spectacular performance. The romantic-comedy film is set against the background of sperm donation and in his debut film itself, Ayushmann proved the confidence he had in himself and took up such a risky subject. His stunning performance as a Delhi lad, Vicky Arora, helped him bag the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in 2012. But this film is one of the best examples of his creative versatility which has no boundaries.

3/6

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

The Hindi remake of ace filmmaker R.S. Prasanna's Tamil film 'Kalyana Samayal Saadham' which revolves around erectile dysfunction saw Ayushmann teaming up with Bhumi Pednekar and the two managed to weave their magic on the silver screen once again. The duo who had featured in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' managed to add the element of humour in such a sensitive issue film and excelled with flying colours. The success of 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' and Ayushmann's ability to get into the skin of any character has paved way for a spin-off which is titled as 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' and would revolve around homosexuality.

4/6

Andhadhun

Ayushmann Khurrana's spectacular performance as a blind piano player not only helped him bag the National Award for Best Actor but at the same time break several records at the box office as well. This Sriram Raghavan directorial which also featured the likes of Tabu and Radhika Apte ranks among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The 35-year-old actor not only nailed the nuances of a blind man with perfection but also delivered one of his best performances till date. While the audience went gaga after watching Ayushmann, critics just couldn't stop hailing the filmmaker and the spectacular performance by the entire star cast.

5/6

Dream Girl

Raaj Shaandilyaa's comedy flick 'Dream Girl' which revolved around a young man impersonating female voice in order to earn a good living, left the audience in splits as Ayushmann nailed it with utmost brilliance. His performance as Pooja not only showcased his versatility but at the same time proved his incredibly wide range of skills as an actor. Ayushmann single-handedly carried the film on his shoulders and overshadowed the performance by others with his brilliance.

6/6

Bala

Ayushmann choices of films are the ones that have defined him over the years but this recent release 'Bala' which revolves around the story of a man suffering from hair loss ran into controversy when it came under the scanner for its uncanny similarities with Sunny Singh starrer 'Ujda Chaman'. Despite the controversies, Ayushmann kept on promoting the film with sheer determination and managed to allure the audience to the theatres as well. His portrayal of a man lacking confidence and how he deals with the societal pressure due to balding has managed to grab him a lot of accolades and added another feather in his already decorated hat.
