Varun Dhawan might be spending sleepless nights in the on-going COVID-19 period but he suddenly has something to smile about. While Dhawan Jr has been waiting impatiently for the theatres to open so that his 'Coolie No.1' sees the light of day, a source has told ETimes that Karan Johar has zeroed down on him and
Kiara Advani for a new film produced under his banner Dharma Productions.
If all goes well, the film in question will go on floors in Mumbai in October/November.
The film is in the comedy genre. The pre-production is done. Other modalities are fast being worked out.
'Good Newwz' director Raj Mehta will wield the megaphone. It may be recalled that Kiara put in a praiseworthy performance in 'Good Newwz' (co-starring
Akshay Kumar,
Kareena Kapoor and
Diljit Dosanjh) and we are told that tilted the scales in her favour. Adds the source, "On the other hand, Varun has always impressed Raj in almost all his films so far and Raj felt he would fit the lead role as a T. "
Kiara and Varun were spotted outside the Dharma office yesterday. So now you know what was happening there.
Raj Mehta remained unavailable for comment.
