Uvika: The summer sizzler

So why did a debutant choose to do a small role? ���It was just for the kind of set up that I was getting. Can you imagine working with Shah Rukh Khan! That���s a dream come true for any actor.Plus Farah Khan showed great faith in me. She cast me without asking me to do a screen test. I don���t think anyone would have refused an offer like this. I don���t regret doing the film one bit,��� gushes Uvika. But the good thing is that people still remember Uvika as the air-head Dolly.
But now it���s time to prove her acting abilities and she hopes that Summer of 2007 does that for her. And while there were reports of Sikandar sharing not-so-friendly relations with Neha Uberoi, Uvika has only good things to say about him. ���Sikandar is so much fun to be around. If he didn���t come to the sets for one day everyone would feel his absence. He���s a major prankster too. But he has immense energy. We have shot in some tough conditions but he was always cheerful,��� she says.
Coming from a non-filmi background, how is Uvika coping with the pressures of tinseltown? ���My family makes sure that I am not treated like an actor at home. They treat me like any family would treat their daughter. This world is different. It���s very glamourous and it���s very easy for anyone to get carried away. I make sure that my feet are planted firmly on the ground,��� says the actress.
Not having a Godfather does have some cons, but Uvika believes that their is no substitute for hardwork. She says, ���When you see someone like SRK at work, you realise that he���s so successful only because he���s so hardworking. It���s necessary for everyone to work to the best of their abilities. There are no shortcuts.���
Coming back to her movie Summer of 2007, Uvika says, she could identify with the role she plays ��� that of a girl with middle-class background. ���It���s a very real character. People will definitely identify with the girl. While Sikandar plays a flamboyant character, she is very practical,��� she reveals. With her debut all set to hit the screens, Uvika is ���super excited���. Well despite the soaring temperatures this Summer is definitely very important for Uvika!
