Writer Shobhaa De is known for her razor-sharp opinions. The popular columnist recently invited trouble when she took a dig at Indian athletes participating in the Rio Olympics for failing to win any medals. Her latest rant has unleashed the wrath of Twitteratis on her.

Shobhaa's tweet read, "Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity.' She added, "Only hope? Dependable Abhinav Bindra. Aim for gold, champion!"

Many lashed out at her for being 'insensitive' towards athletes who beat the odds and reached where they are notwithstanding the bad infrastructure on offer for athletes in the country.
