Over the last few years, Tusshar Kapoor has received maximum praise for his funny roles in the Golmaal series. And just as he was getting typecast, he surprised everyone with the offbeat Shor In The City and followed it up with the recently released The Dirty Picture where he has showcased his versatility in a serious role. Here Tusshar talks about the journey ahead.
Says Tusshar, “I need to thank my fans and all those who believed in me. I feel that TDP has broken new ground for me as far as my acting goes. With Shor I received praise from critics, but with my last film I delivered a commercial hit. Watching the film with the audience was an amazing experience. It allows you to soak in all the love the fans shower. Most of the compliments have come for my scenes with Vidya and Naseer. I felt that the front benchers as well as the masses equally enjoyed my role in the film.”
After debuting with a love story Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai (2001), Tusshar created a niche for himself with films like Khakhee (2004), Kya Kool Hain Hum (2005), Golmaal (2006) and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007). He has also attempted to do varied roles — a good mix of action, comedy and drama — and has been accepted in each avatar, he says, “There are fans who love me in Golmaal, and they have appreciated my character in TDP. It’s an overwhelming feeling and I only want to better my work. The success of the film has given me the confidence to do more challenging roles.”
Early 2012 will see the actor return to comedy in Samir Karnik’s Char Din Ki Chandni that releases on January 13. “It’s the same day that one of my favourite films — Yamla Pagla Deewana — released last year,” he says.
