The re-release of ‘Tumbbad’ has once again brought its eerie and atmospheric world back into the spotlight, captivating audiences with its haunting storytelling. As the film continues to receive widespread praise, the filmmakers have shared unseen footage on their social media, offering a glimpse into the intricate process behind one of its most chilling characters – Daadi. The unseen footage reveals the painstaking efforts that went into crafting Daadi's terrifying appearance, with the transformation process primarily driven by the use of prosthetics. The meticulous application of each layer of makeup and prosthetics showcases the dedication and craftsmanship of the team as they brought this haunting character to life. What makes it even more remarkable is that the young actor who portrayed Pandurang also played the role of Daadi, demonstrating incredible versatility and talent at such a young age.

Re-released in theaters on September 13, 2024, ‘Tumbbad’ is a 2018 Hindi-language folk horror film directed by Rahi Anil Barve, with Anand Gandhi as the creative director, and Adesh Prasad as the co-director. Written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad Barve, and Gandhi, the film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, with Sohum Shah playing the lead role of Vinayak Rao.

‘Tumbbad’ was a critical success, praised for its gripping story, exceptional production design, and stunning cinematography. It was also the first Indian film to premiere in the Critics’ Week Section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival. In addition to Sohum Shah’s compelling performance, the cast included Jyoti Malshe and Anita Date-Kelkar, both of whom played key roles in enhancing the film’s atmospheric and haunting narrative.
