Tripura

Chief Minister,

Biplab Deb

, who recently claimed that internet was present even during the Mahabharata times, is in the news once again. He has now drawn parallels between

Diana Hayden

and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s win as Miss World titleholders. At a design workshop in Agartala, he said that Indian women should ideally look like Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati and so, considering that Diana Hayden didn’t deserve to win the Miss World crown. He added that it was a part of a fixed plan to keep in mind the interests of the international market. In that aspect, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s win was well-deserved and she represents the perfect Indian beauty.

He said that during ancient times, women didn’t use cosmetics or shampoo and washed their hair with ‘methi’ (fenugreek) water to prevent hairfall and bathed with mud. Phew! Aren’t we done with these sweeping statements already! Clarifying his remarks was media advisor Sanjay Mishra who said that his remarks were in context of how international cosmetic companies fix results in order to come out with results that will influence a country’s market and that Deb was only trying to promote India’s traditional ways.
