‘Mission Mangal’ traces the story of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). While talking about the film, the director reportedly said that it is a true story in terms of technicalities, but the characters have been fictionalised. Taapsee told IANS, ''It’s based on true events but the characters are not specific to particular scientists.'' This is Akshay Kumar's second film of 2019, after 'Kesari', to be based on true events.
Five women Army
The film's female cast is empowering the story, as it talks about gender equality and women power. While Vidya plays the role of project director, Taapsee is in charge of navigation and communication. Sonakshi plays the scientist in charge of the propulsion control and Nithya Menon manages the satellite design and Kriti’s character handles the Program Autonomy.
After giving us back to back hits like 'Heyy Babyy' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', Akshay and Vidya have once again teamed up for 'Mission Mangal'. Both the actors are powerhouse performers and complement each other’s onscreen presence. While it was a treat to watch them at play in the past, Akshay and Vidya promise an intense portrayal in ‘Mission Mangal’.
Celebrating team spirit
The trailer of 'Mission Mangal' showed the team fighting against all the odds, struggling to achieve their dream. The glimpse also celebrated team spirit, bringing those together who successfully executed the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) of November 2013. The enthusiastic star cast kept the team spirit alive all through the promotions, giving a glimpse of their onscreen camaraderie.
