I love to take long, cold bubble baths in my jacuzzi, with the sea breeze floating in through my windows, listening to jazz and sipping watermelon juice with lots of ice and mint. Too often we forget how magically refreshing cold water can feel in a ‘hot tub’! Although I live on the beach in Mumbai, sadly the water is not clean enough to dip into.

But growing up in the US, every summer weekend I’d go to the beach to cool off, carrying an ice box, music box, a parasol and a bikini! My mother gave me my first bikini when I was seven — it was white with strawberries all over it. Just thinking about it, I can feel the sand and hear the waves.

I try and stay indoors as much as I can during summers. This is the only way to avoid the sun. I also keep away from extra make-up and stick to the basics only, as skin becomes hypersensitive during this time. I prefer watermelons. I’m an absolute water baby and love to swim whenever I get a chance. It is also necessary to keep oneself hydrated and what better way than drinking lots of water!

I wear only cottons and linens during summers. I workout round the year and follow a diet chart which includes a health drink comprising 10 eggs everyday. But when temperatures soar, I try to avoid eggs and substitute the same with soya and pulses. I also include a lot of curd and watermelons in my diet. This apart, I drink six litres of water.

It’s always better to rise early and workout during summers and follow it up with a lemon tea and a very light breakfast. This keeps you going the entire day. I include a lot of fruits in my diet along with doi er ghol which is an absolute must. Though I don’t like to bathe more than twice a day because this might make you sick during the weather change. Also, I avoid wearing jeans and stick to linen pants and cotton skirts. I tie a top knot, fixing it with a fancy hair clip.
