Throwback: When Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra slammed 'Nuclear family setup'

Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, expressed in the book 'Raising Stars' by Rashmi Uchil, that parenthood is something nobody is fully prepared for. She advocated for abolishing the traditional 'nuclear family set-up', emphasising that Priyanka ensures to acknowledge her family in interviews because she was raised by a collective team. During their upbringing, Madhu, engrossed in her career, relied heavily on relatives to primarily nurture Priyanka and her brother, Siddhant.

Earlier, in an interview, Madhu Chopra mentioned that neither of her children had ever expressed feeling her absence during their upbringing. She strongly believes that the traditional nuclear family setup should be discarded. Instead, her children, including Priyanka, grew up surrounded by their extended family—maasi, mani, mama, and cousins—who played pivotal roles in their lives. Family holds utmost importance for Madhu, and she ensures the same for her children. Priyanka frequently emphasises the significance of family in her interviews. Despite being a working mother, Madhu ensured her children were never left alone. They cherish the joint family system, often organising spontaneous gatherings with their nine cousins from both sides of the family. Their bond is so profound that distinguishing between cousins and siblings is nearly impossible, showcasing their enduring closeness and support for one another.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Priyanka Chopra's upcoming project is the American action comedy film 'Heads of State', alongside stars like Idris Elba and John Cena.
