Throwback: When 'Love Aaj Kal' actress Arushi Sharma decided to quit acting and explore corporate opportunities

Arushi Sharma, who made her Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha in 2015, struggled to find recognition until her breakthrough in the OTT space. After a small role in Tamasha, she secured a significant role in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal (2019), where her performance opposite Randeep Hooda earned her praise. However, the lockdown due to Covid-19 brought challenges, forced Arushi to take a break from acting.

The actress faced difficulties during the pandemic and experienced a lull in her career, prompting her to explore job opportunities in engineering companies. In an interview with NDTV a couple is years ago, Aarushi had revealed that she felt like quitting acting. And since she had studied engineering, the uncertain times during the pandemic made her apply for jobs in companies. Despite the setbacks, Arushi's perseverance paid off when she landed a lead role in Netflix's Jaadugar opposite Jitendra Kumar in 2022. The film received mixed reviews, but Arushi's acting garnered appreciation.

Her journey continued with a role in the Netflix series Kaala Paani, directed by Sameer Saxena and Amit Golani. In this popular series, Arushi essayed the role of Jyotsna, a complex character who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The series earned critical acclaim for its unique content, marking another success for Arushi in the OTT space.
