"In a way, the golden age of timeless romantic films was that of the early 2000s," believes Kareena Kapoor Khan. These movies, with chemistry that can never be forgotten and larger-than-life expressions of love, set a high bar for romance in Indian cinema. Kareena Kapoor Khan, in an old interview on BeerBiceps' The Ranveer Show, discussed the current commercial trends in Bollywood, specifically the surge in action films. Speaking of her massive success in 2007 film ‘Jab We Met’, Kareena said that the film has remained etched in the minds of the audience. She said that even her friends went to watch the movie in theaters when it came out for re-release. It shows how the film and its characters are connected with the audience, and its dialogues are still remembered by people. Kareena thinks that it is very less for an actor's career to change because of a film.

Looking through memories of the past, Kareena says Bollywood has moved so much that, even now, it looks out-of-festival romance scenarios being what earlier rom-com stories presented the theme most popular in India, if they compare Shah Rukh-Kajol to Kareena-Abhishek in romantic comedies. Even Kareena admits that "If anything at all that they miss are those iconic love stories which were the hallmark of the industry."

Currently, in the cinema industry, action is the most common genre; Kareena admitted that the change has been observed. According to her, viewers now trend to films that have action, considering that some of the blockbusters which have performed well include ‘Pathaan, Jawan, and Leo’. However, Kareena is optimistic that the other genres, such as comedy, will regain its market again. She humorously referenced her film ‘Crew', scheduled to hit the screens in March 2024, suggesting that it may be the next big thing in comedy.
