Throwback Pic of Virat Kohli breaking rules to meet Anushka Sharma resurfaces as couple's IPL win PDA goes viral

At a time when cricket fans are celebrating the big win of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a throwback photo of Virat Kohli breaking ICC protocol to meet Anushka Sharma in the stands during an IPL match in 2015 has resurfaced online. The pics in question come amidst the couple’s much-talked-about PDA-filled celebrations after the match.


Back in the day, Virat raised eyebrows for heading up to the stands to meet his then girlfriend Anushka during a rain-hit IPL match against the Delhi Daredevils. While the interaction was brief, it was technically in breach of the ICC’s code of conduct. As per the guidelines, players are not permitted to leave their designated area during the match, and communication with individuals outside of authorised team personnel is strictly prohibited.




“He is the captain of the team, so he is very much aware of the rules that apply to players, especially those in leadership positions,” a senior official from the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) told the Hindustan Times at the time. “One can imagine a newcomer doing that but not a seasoned player who is aware of the protocol,” the former IPL associate added.



Though no formal action was ultimately taken, the incident sparked a wider conversation. The moment came full circle as Anushka rushed on the field last night and embraced her husband, moments after his team clinched victory. With emotions running high, Kohli, teary-eyed and overwhelmed, broke down on the field before rushing into Anushka's arms and locking her into a tight embrace. What followed was a heart-warming kiss on the cheek by the actress and Virat reciprocating the love with a kiss on her forehead.



This landmark win came just weeks after he announced his retirement from Test cricket, making the moment even more significant for him and his fans.



Speaking to broadcasters after lifting the trophy, Kohli was full of gratitude—not just for his teammates and fans, but especially for Anushka. He said, “What Anushka has gone through emotionally—watching me being down and out, coming to games, being so connected with Bangalore (she's a Bangalore girl as well), and being connected to RCB—this is very, very special for her as well, and she's going to be so, so proud. Thank you.”
