Mallika Sherawat made ripples when she entered Bollywood with her kissing scenes and bold interviews. The actress, however, took a break from Bollywood and headed to the US and Paris for international projects since 2015. Looking at the kissing scenes and nudity prevalent in Hindi films today, she says in an interview with a daily, that her film '
Murder' (2004) was ahead of its time.
The kissing scenes in the film created quite a furore then. She feels that now these things are being treated as normal in Bollywood. In fact, she feel that today's actresses are not only pushing the envelope and doing frontal nudity, the audiences are also quite comfortable with it.
Mallika, who's done sensual numbers like 'Mayya Mayya' from the film '
Guru' (2006), chose to move out of Bollywood as she did not want get stuck and become a 'kueyin me mendhak'. She reportedly said it's important to reinvent and grow as a person. The actress added that she wanted to experience different cultures. The actress has also done amateur theatre and attended acting classes while travelling around the world. She finds all these experiences 'therapeutic'.
