There’s no bitterness with Ranveer Singh after his exit from YRF, says casting director Shanoo Sharma: ‘It didn’t hurt that he left’
Ranveer Singh, who burst onto the scene with Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, was one of the biggest discoveries by casting director Shanoo Sharma and YRF head Aditya Chopra. Over the years, the actor became synonymous with Yash Raj Films, starring in several of their high-profile releases. But in 2022, after more than a decade, the Padmaavat star parted ways with the banner's talent management wing.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shanoo Sharma addressed the much-talked-about separation and revealed that the studio took the decision in its stride.
‘There’s a reason why he must be going’
The casting head of YRF made it clear that there was no emotional fallout over Ranveer’s exit.
“It didn’t hurt that he left. He’s going ahead with his life, I wish him all the best. There’s a reason why he must be going, there’s a reason why the production house is okay with him going,” she said.
Shanoo reflected on the nature of the industry and said that such shifts are part of the creative cycle.
“I feel things work, and then they fade, and then they start to work again, and the cycle goes on,” she explained.
She also clarified that despite parting ways professionally, her personal bond with Ranveer remains intact.
“He’s my best friend as well, so there’s nothing difficult on that front,” Shanoo added.
Ranveer now managed by Deepika Padukone’s agency
For those unaware, Ranveer Singh amicably exited YRF Talent in 2022 and joined Collective Artists Network, the same agency that manages Deepika Padukone. The move marked a new chapter in the actor’s career, though he remains closely associated with several YRF titles.
Ranveer’s collaboration with Yash Raj Films includes a string of notable films such as Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Befikre, and Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He also had a cameo in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. Up next, he will be seen in Dhurandhar, a spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, which is set to release on December 5, 2025.
Meanwhile, Shanoo Sharma is enjoying a new high at YRF, thanks to her latest finds, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, whose debut film Saiyaara turned into a box office juggernaut. The romantic drama has crossed Rs 500 crore globally.
