There's a new guy in Malaika's life

What’s more, the <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Chhaiyya Chhaiyya</span> girl’s husband Arbaaz Khan loves him as much as she does! But hey, hold your horses. This five-and-a-half-month old ‘young man’ answers to the name of Arhaan!<br /><br />‘‘My baby is the centre of my world,’’ says Malaika, ‘‘I see myself as a born baby-sitter!’’ ‘Arhaan’ by the way, means ‘ruler’ and, as Malaika points out, the name is a ‘‘culmination’’ of the words ‘Arora’ and ‘Khan’! ‘‘I am a total baby junkie.<br /><br />Nurturing is so much a part of me. In the past, my friends would leave their children with me and I would always enjoy tending to them.’’ Err... how is Arbaaz as a father? ‘‘For some reason, men are convinced that women don’t know their job! Well, Arbaaz tries to be a good father and is very involved. And, he certainly is a loving father.’’<br /><br />In the world of showbiz, a thing of beauty is a joy only as long as its shelf life. Sizzle and fizzle is the tale of most VJs. Life is beautiful... till it goes phut. Malaika, though, is made of sterner stuff. After a short break from work, she is back to the grind. And the lady means business -- at a recent stage show in Mumbai, Malaika doubled up as host and performer. ‘‘I enjoy doing stage shows as they are spontaneous. I just let myself loose. The recent show went off well and I feel as fit as a fiddle.’’<br /><br />Talking of fitness, motherhood doesn’t seem to have left any tell-tale signs on Malaika’s body beautiful. There’s a secret for sure? ‘‘Aah! I’m not going to share my secret! Fortunately, I didn’t put on too much weight, so shedding it wasn’t so hard. So, here I am looking fine as usual!’’<br /><br />Caught between her duties as a professional and parent, life, for Malaika, has become quite demanding. But it has also become much more colourful. ‘‘There are a whole lot of things on my mind at the moment -- films, ads, VJ-ing, stage shows.’’ Plus Arhaan, of course. ‘‘He takes up all my time when I am at home,’’ says the proud mother, ‘‘After a hectic day at work, nothing beats the joy of seeing him play. Whenever I am out for a lengthy duration, Arhaan travels with me. I feel that I am doing a good job of juggling my career with motherhood. Besides, the infrastructure the family provides is quite stable. So it isn’t quite that hard... it’s fun!’’<br /><br />As Malaika delves deep into the self, a philosophical voice reveals that she takes life as it comes. And life comes in many manifestations -- to find Malaika ready with plans. In the pipeline are plans to start a restaurant which will serve ‘‘Thai and Oriental cuisine.’’<br /><br />She has shimmered on the small screen as a VJ, jived atop a train on the big screen, peeped out from many a magazine cover and held audiences enthralled at live shows. She’s one step ahead of life. Maybe, that’s what makes Malaika Arora hip, hot and happening. Always.</div> </div>
