Sudden exit at career peak

It was shocking for fans when Ayesha Jhulka left Bollywood at the pinnacle of her success as an actress. Ayesha Jhulka's roles in some of the most memorable films of the '90s left fans puzzled, as she suddenly broke silence on her decision to leave the industry. While speaking in an old interview with Lehre Retro, Ayesha Jhulka detailed the reason for her impromptu leave of absence, and at the same time that she was taking time off, Ayesha Jhulka discussed this juncture in her career over 20 years ago.

2/5

Relationship with Armaan Kohli

The reason why she decided to leave her acting career was linked to an actor named Armaan Kohli. This actor had appeared in films with her, such as Kohra and Anaam. It was reported that they shared the same chemistry off-screen as they had on-screen. Eventually, their relationship became serious, and the media speculated that they were engaged and intended to marry. Ayesha claimed that the couple she was working with also influenced her decision to stop signing new films.

3/5

Breakup and its impact

Despite their intensity, Ayesha and Armaan exited their relationship. Even though Ayesha would not publicly reveal her reasoning for their breakup, she publicly reported that Armaan fell in love with another woman before the couple could marry. This heartbreak affected her life outside of her relationship, and she lost considerable roles in her career and too a brief time away from the top league of actresses.

4/5

Return to the industry

Ayesha returned to the film industry post-break. In her first interview since her return with Lehren, she talked about her long break from work, stating she paused her career for plans of marriage. These plans fell through, but she was happy to be back to acting and was eager to reunite with audiences, stating she was ready to re-establish and rebuild her professional self.

5/5

Maintaining privacy and focus

While reflecting back on her own relationship, Ayesha consciously chose to remain private about personal information, simply stating that, there wasn't much further information she wanted to share with viewers. She expressed her focus was on work and it was all she was interested in, as her first priority was that, not speculation. Ayesha's personal story illustrates how an individual is able to navigate some personal challenges while working towards getting back some footing, the everyday course in the movie business.
