In the world of Bollywood, where scripts are penned and destinies unfold, there are instances when prophecies don't align with the cosmic design. Such is the intriguing tale of Ramanand Sagar, the legendary filmmaker, and his unrealized cinematic endeavor, ‘Yogeshwar Krishna.’ Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem Sagar shares insights about the same in an exclusive conversation with Etimes.

Speaking about the prediction, Prem Sagar shared that the visionary behind this prophecy was none other than Jai Gopal Mohla, a family friend of the Sagars and an acclaimed astrologer sought after by the Kapoor clan, including the illustrious Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor.

“This must be somewhere around 1976-77 when Mohla Saab saw Papaji’s (Ramanand Sagar’s) kundali and realized that the soul of Ramanand Sagar was going to bring a spiritual revolution that would create a sensation across the world for years to come. According to his astrology, it was supposed to be a film. After doing his calculations, he concluded that Ramanand Sagar would make a film on Krishna,” Prem shared.

Fueled by these cosmic insights, Mohla Saab embarked on a cinematic journey of his own, establishing Mohla Films. The grand announcement followed, heralding the magnum opus, ‘Yogeshwar Krishna,’ with none other than the charismatic Shashi Kapoor donning the divine role of Lord Krishna.

“So, he started his own company Mohla Films, and announced Yogeshwar Krishna. It starred Shashi Kapoor as Krishna. And since LK Advani Saab was in the BJP and others. He called Advani Saab for the mahurat at the Natraj Studios. It was one of the grandest mahurats you could ever imagine. Natraj Studio’s floor and compound were filled with people. They announced ‘Yogeshwar Krishna’ with Shashi Kapoor as a leading man was made. Even Raj Kapoor came there. And Advani Saab gave the clap to the very grand event,” Prem Sagar fondly recalled.

However, the astrological calculations seemed to have missed their mark. Prem Sagar told us that the destined path for Ramanand Sagar's global recognition did not lead through the portrayal of Krishna; instead, it unfolded through the timeless epic of ‘Ramayan.’

He concluded that the envisioned film, ‘Yogeshwar Krishna,’ never materialized, leaving behind a tale of unfulfilled prophecies and unrealized cinematic dreams.
