I have fans sending me crazy marriage proposals. Their parents have even written to me, sending me bio-datas and pictures. Shootout At Lokhandwala took a long time coming to Vivek Oberoi. Faced with a slew of flops, Vivek’s career got a new lease of life with that film. But ask him about it and he professes to have moved on.“I have had my share of compliments for the movie and now it is time to concentrate on the next subject,” he says.
And what is this ‘next subject’? “I am preparing for Mission Istanbul and having fun. I have spent time with my family and have been taking fun holidays to places where I always wanted to go. I have tried a lot of adventure sports also,” says Vivek.
Besides the fun part, he is also using this time to get over things he has faced in the past. “Holidays are the perfect time to know who you are and what’s important to you,” he says. But when Vivek is not doing any of this, he is babysitting. “I have started enjoying babysitting. I am the official family babysitter. Between my cousins, there are about nine kids in the house and I babysit all of them. I guess emotionally and mentally, I am still seven and spiritually I am 700,” he laughs.Professionally speaking, have things changed for Vivek? “All the directors I wanted to work with have been approaching me. I have been reading some very good scripts. But I take my time to commit to something, because once I do, I give it my 100 per cent.” There has been news that Vivek may be part of another Shootout? “I know that Sanjay Gupta is going to make a movie called Shootout At Parliament. However, I am not supposed to talk about it much,” he says diplomatically. And has his new-found success increased his hotness quotient? “Girls do hit on me and I take it as a compliment. But I am single and I like it that way. For the past two years, I have had some fans sending me crazy proposals. Their parents have written to me. They have sent me their bio-datas and their pictures. Even my mom read them and started laughing.” Does he plan to take up any of these proposals? “No,” he says emphatically, adding, “I like it this way. Relationships have their own destiny, so when it’s meant to be, it will happen. For now, I am happy being single and I am going to be like this for a while. I don’t feel that there is anything missing in my life.”
