The Man Without A Past to be closing film at IFFI

NEW DELHI: In a departure from tradition, a Finnish film instead of an Asian film will be screened at the closing day of the 33rd International Film Festival of India. The Finnish film, The Man Without A Past, winner of the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival 2002, will be the closing film at the fest.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">NEW DELHI: In a departure from tradition, a Finnish film instead of an Asian film will be screened at the closing day of the 33rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being held here.<br />The Finnish film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The Man Without A Past</span> winner of the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival 2002, will be the closing film at the fest.<br />Directed by Aki Kaurismaki, the film is about a man who migrates to Helsinki in search of work, gets mugged and loses his memory.

He has to start life afresh, and in the process, rediscovers the values with which man will not be ashamed to live.<br />The film, part of the `Cinema of the World'' section at IFFI, has also been shown at the Moscow Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Czech Republic Film Festival as well as at the New Zealand Film Festival.<br />The Asian film adjudged as the best in the Asian competition section at the festival and the winnner of the `Golden Peacock Award for the Best Film by an Asian Director, will not be screened at the closing.<br />"There is no point repeating a film at the closing ceremony. The winner in the Asian competition section would have been a film the people have already seen during the course of the fest," Deepak Sandhu, Director, Film Festivals, said. </div> </div>
