‘The Great Escape Faraar’: Nawazuddin Siddiqui teams up with national award winners Parth Bhalerao and Treesha Thosar in the Kushagra Sharma’s heist thriller

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to headline director Kushagra Sharma’s ambitious heist thriller ‘The Great Escape Faraar’, a project that is building significant buzz for its rare mix of Indian and international talent. After securing collaborations with ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor Ilia Volok and ‘Money Heist’ composer Iván Lacámara, the film has now added National Award winners Parth Bhalerao and Treesha Thosar to its ensemble.

A powerhouse cast with national and global talent

According to HT City, Ilia Volok will play the antagonist in the film. Iván Lacámara, who created the iconic music for the global hit ‘Money Heist’, has not only composed the background score but has also created his first Hindi song for this project.


Industry sources confirm that the film features three National Award-winning actors. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who won in 2012, joins Parth Bhalerao, who won for ‘Killa’ in 2015, and Teesha Thosar, the youngest recipient of the honour. The cast also includes acclaimed Malayalam actor Nimisha Sajayan, known for her performances in ‘Poachers’, ‘Dabba Cartel’ and ‘Chithha’.

Speaking to HT City, director Kushagra Sharma shared, “The youngest National Award winner, Teesha, is playing Nawazuddin’s daughter, while Parth is playing the student of his character, who is a Physics teacher. Both have done wonderful work in the Marathi industry.”

He added that Nimisha portrays Nawazuddin’s wife. “She has done amazing work in Malayalam cinema and has won multiple awards. It is always a win to have such cross-collaborations with regional as well as international stars.”

Thai stunt expert, global sensibilities

In addition to its diverse cast, ‘Faraar’ has roped in acclaimed Thai action director Kecha Khamphakdee, whose previous credits include big-ticket Indian films such as ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pushpa’.

The director explained that merging talent from different industries gives the film a rooted yet global texture. “The audience today is extremely broad, and language is no longer a barrier. In the Malayalam-speaking belt of Kerala, people are watching Korean dramas. That is why we strategically brought together cast and crew from across industries.”

Kushagra said he was heavily inspired by ‘Chak De! India’ while assembling a culturally diverse team. “That idea stayed with me, and I prepared a similar bouquet of actors as per our storyline.”

Nawazuddin’s role involves science-driven heist planning

Nawazuddin plays a Physics professor whose knowledge becomes central to the heist narrative. “Every concept in the heist thriller is based on principles of Physics, which his character applies. A lot of scientific research has gone into it,” Kushagra revealed.

What comes next for the filmmaker

Kushagra Sharma has previously directed several short films that travelled to both Indian and international festivals. His 2022 short ‘Guilt’ received recognition at the Paris Film Fest.

Set against a backdrop of crime, betrayal, and redemption, ‘The Great Escape: Faraar’ explores the journey of a physics professor based in Thailand whose family becomes entangled in a case of mistaken guilt. When all legal paths to justice fail, he uses his intellect—and the laws of physics—to orchestrate a daring escape plan. The cast also includes Nimisha Sajjan, Vikram Kochhar, and Gavie Chahal, among others.

The director shared that his next project will continue this global approach. “It will be a big-scale, multi-starrer film set in a very different kind of fictional world that is connected to a strong mythological base.”
