'Teri Fariyad', the newest rendition of the famous ghazal 'Koi Fariyaad' that has been recreated for 'Tum Bin 2', has touched emotional chords. Producer
Bhushan Kumar and director
Anubhav Sinha have reunited for the sequel of their 2001 hit, 'Tum Bin', after a decade and a half. They felt that the album of their upcoming romantic musical drama, featuring
Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and
Aashim Gulati, would be incomplete without the soulful track from their earlier film, penned by Shakeel Azmi.
The latest rendition not only features
Jagjit Singh's soulful voice from the original, but also has
Rekha Bhardwaj's vocals seamlessly blending in.
Ankit Tiwari was roped in to compose this version that is steadily rising on the charts. Rather than launching the album with a new track, Bhushan opted for the ghazal due to its tremendous recall value.
Writer-director Anubhav says, "This song seeks inspiration from
Gulzar saab's works. He has been one of the front runners in Triveni, a form of poetry where every verse comprises three lines. It took us six months to find the recording from the T-Series archives. Initially, we were planning to release 'Teri Fariyad' on the same date when the first film opened in cinemas. But the amazing response to its fleeting use in the teaser prompted us to launch the album with this track."
'Tum Bin 2', produced by Bhushan Kumar and Anubhav Sinha, releases on November 18.
