Tanushree ashram hops for two years

Tanushree Dutta has been missing in action for over two years. She tells TOI that she went looking for spiritual solace and her quest took her to ashrams and religious destinations across India.
“I started working at 16 and then for the next 10 years, I worked without a break. I guess it got to me — the pressure, the ruthless people, the industry, heartbreaks and heartburns, the lack of motivation.I realised that I was burning out. It is at that moment that I decided to take a break.”
The break, says Tanushree, started as a quick fix to weight loss but soon turned into a hunt for peace. “It was a period of self-introspection, but a month ago, I realised that it was time to return to reality. But there was one thing left — a trip to Ladakh and my desire to shave my head. But my parents wouldn’t have liked it so just before I left for Ladakh last month, I shaved my head. It was the only way for me to travel incognito.”
She finally returned to Mumbai this week.
