Vinod Bachchan the 51 per cent stake holder files police complaint against distributor Sunil Bohra
Tanu Weds Manu proved to be the dark horse of the cricket season. This social-romantic caper with Kangna Ranaut and R Madhavan not only stood its ground through the World Cup cricket season, it even went on to become a huge success. However, the one man who should be enjoying the fruits of this success; Vinod Bachchan (Soundarya Productions) who is a 51% stake owner in the IPR; is now running around from police station to the producer associations accusing his distributor Sunil Bohra of criminal breach, mischief, cheating, misrepresentation and fraud.
A trade source says,s “Vinod Bachchan and Shailesh R Singh are the producers of Tanu Weds Manu.

They had entrusted the distribution rights of their film to Sunil Bohra (Bohra Bros) for a stipulated period of 10 years via an agency agreement dated October 11, 2010. However, Bohra is said to have sold TWM to a film corporation; and also sold the satellite and music rights of the film to a leading channel and a music house respectively claiming that he (Sunil Bohra) is the producer. When Bachchan realised that he had been ‘duped’ he swung into action and has filed a police complaint at the Oshiwara Police Station under section 120(b) of the IPC.’’
The same matter is also being addressed by the AMPTPP (Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers) and they have reportedly got two mediators-producers Tutu Sharma and Harry Baweja to intervene and try and sort out matters in favour of the aggrieved party. Vinod Bachchan remained unavailable for comment but BT has a copy of the police complaint made by him. Bachchan’s lawyers Medialexicon have also given a public notice in one of the leading Bollywood film trade papers reiterating that Vinod Bachchan is the producer of TWM.
