Tanishaa Mukerji feels outsiders in Bollywood lack loyalty, defends nepo babies: 'I want to know why we are being bashed'
Tanishaa Mukerji has jumped into the ongoing nepotism debate in Bollywood. She proudly called herself an industry insider, expressed her love for the so-called “nepo babies,” and wondered why they are always at the receiving end of criticism.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, the actress described herself as a true Bollywood child who deeply loves the film industry and the people in it—whether newcomers or those born into film families. She said she even embraces the so-called 'nepo babies' and questioned why they are constantly criticised.
She further explained that people entering Bollywood aren’t just here to take from it. Whether they want to act, direct, or produce, their focus should also be on giving back and helping the industry grow.
Tanishaa expressed that many outsiders often enter Bollywood without a sense of loyalty, mainly focused on what they can gain. In her view, it’s usually the next generation of such families—when their children choose to join films—that they start thinking about giving back and contributing to the industry’s growth.
Defending her Bollywood background, she took the example of some big names from the industry. She pointed out filmmaker Rohit Shetty and her brother-in-law Ajay Devgn, saying they’re proof that insiders don’t just succeed but also give back to the film fraternity. She admitted it frustrates her when the industry keeps getting bashed despite this.
