Tabu loves it when the audience connects with her work

Tabu’s filmography, right from Maachis (1996) to her recent-release Jawaani Jaaneman, is enviable. The Bollywood actress seems to enjoy masala movies like Golmaal Again (2017) as much as she loves bringing to life characters like Ghazala in Haider (2014) or Simi in Sriram Raghavan AndhaDhun (2018). Among her other notable films are Maachis (1996) Hu Tu Tu (1999), Haider (2014), to Chandni Bar (2001) and Maqbool (2003).What Tabu cherishes the most is how people react to her work. In a recent interview, the Bollywood actress said that it is emotionally an intense experience to see when your work connects with people at such a deep level, and it becomes a significant part of their lives. Her performance in Maachis (1996), which was directed by Gulzar, was one such example.
Tabu said that she can never forget the letters and some phone calls that she got after Maachis from people who identified with what had happened at that time. Talking about being ambitious she said, “I am ambitious about the quality of work that I do and how that can take me to a more evolved space. How I am doing as far as competition is concerned or in the number game…I have never diverted my energy towards such things.”
