In the latest exchange of salvos, interior designer
Sussanne Khan
has emphasised that she never suggested that she was an architect during her dealings with
Emgee Group
for a signature project in Goa. Her role was stated as being that of a creative director, who would look into the design details of the project. In fact, Khan states in a letter to the media, that she dealt in a "completely transparent manner" and always intended to hire "further talent for architecture". On June 18, Khan was booked by Panaji police in a Rs 1.87 crore cheating case.
Mudhit Gupta
, managing partner of the Emgee Group, said that Khan had falsely projected herself as an architect and designer by profession.

Khan says that her design store, The Charcoal Project, had hired the services of city-based Rooshad Shroff, who runs an architectural firm, in September 2013. She stated that she had all the legal documents to prove that Gupta knew of this fact. "All marketing collaterals including the brochure and invitation cards show
Rooshad Shroff
as the architect of the project. This is stated in black and white and illustrates the facts of the situation. These collaterals and brochures were produced for the Emgee Group and Mr. Gupta, thus how could they be unaware of the facts?" the statement said. She added that she had to replace Shroff with architect,
Burgees Italia
, because of the differences of opinion between Gupta and Shroff. In 2013, Khan and
Gauri Khan were hired by Emgee Group to work on the design of 12 villa projects in Bambolim, Goa. However, in 2015, she was replaced by
Nisha Jamvwal
. In response, Khan sued Emgee Group and Gupta, last year. She believes this latest action by the Emgee Group is "a blatant attempt to twist facts and put pressure" on her.
