Sushant Singh Rajput had a heart of gold; here's revisiting his generous acts of kindness

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput will forever remain one of the remarkably talented faces of Bollywood who made an indelible space for himself in the industry. From acting on the small screen to creating magic in films, the actor came a long way and continues to inspire many aspiring actors in the country with the body of work he left behind. As today marks his birth anniversary, let’s celebrate SSR’s life with some of his incredible acts of kindness that made everyone fall in love with him a little more.

Funding for NASA training of two kids

In an interview with IANS, Sushant shared, “When I was a kid I really wanted to be an astronaut but I did not know where to go. I always wanted to go to NASA but was declined again and again, so I got myself a really powerful telescope, which can zoom in on any crater on a bright moon night. It was two years back that I had a chance to go to NASA and I did a small workshop there. One year later I sent two kids to NASA, they were very bright kids and one of them won a gold medal there and he now trains to become an astronaut. I am now planning to send at least 100 kids this time to NASA.”

Angel donation for Nagaland

The actor came to the rescue of Nagaland that suffered great losses in 2018 due to floods. Filmmaker-writer Charudutt Acharya revealed deets about the actor’s silent donation after his death and shared how SSR’s demise had deeply affected his father and former governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya. Talking about how the actor donated to Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund, he wrote, “He (Sushant Singh Rajput) quietly came to Dimapur, the commercial capital of Nagaland, and handed over a cheque of 1.25 crore to the CM Neiphiu Rio. There was no fanfare. There was no major publicity.”

Reportedly, the actor came forward to donate Rs 1 crore on behalf of his fan. Screenshots of the same had later gone viral after his demise.

Helping underprivileged kids

SSR was fond of kids and there's no doubt! He started an initiative to provide free education to underprivileged children and told IANS, “My team is working on the idea where we are selecting a group of schools, and we will take a merit test of the kids. If the kids pass the exam, we will take care of their education cost for a year.”
