Sushant Singh Rajput death case highlights: Rhea Chakraborty will be sent to Byculla jail tomorrow; to spend the night in NCB custody
Investigations into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has taken a new turn with a possible drug angle becoming the central point of the probe. After the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation interrogating the main accused – Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Siddharth Pithani, Samuel Miranda, and Shruti Modi – the Narcotics Control Bureau has stepped in to conduct their investigation into the case. At a time when the late actor’s family is rallying up fans to join various social media movements, Bollywood stars are slowly rising to stand by Rhea and slam the ‘witch hunt’ she has been facing. With the actress showing her full co-operation with the federal investigation agencies, and the case nowhere close to coming to a close, here are all the updates.

Rhea has accused Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and others of forgery and preparing a "fake" prescription of medicines for anxiety for Sushant. Now, Sushant’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti has slammed Rhea on social media. She claimed that Rhea’s complaint is ‘fake’. She wrote, “Nothing’s gonna break us, definitely not this fake FIR! #SSRFamilyStandsStrong #UnitedForSSRJustice #WholeIndiaIsSSRFamily”

Rhea Chakraborty has been one of the prime accused in the ongoing Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. It has almost been three months but nothing concrete has been proven against the actress. Rhea has also been getting support from her Bollywood counterparts. Swara, in her column in a magazine, compared the media trial against Rhea to the Salem witch trials in the 17th century. She also added that after the initial debate around nepotism, attention was diverted to Rhea after Sushant’s father filed an FIR against her in Patna. Swara wrote that while there has been no evidence to prove that Sushant was murdered, evidence that suggests that Rajput’s family has lied is emerging.

According to the latest report on Times Now, the Central Bureau of Investigation’s Special Investigation Team is set to seek legal opinion on Rhea’s FIR and if required, the team will register the FIR and will probe this angle as well. The CBI is reportedly awaiting direction from the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) following which, they will once again ask their legal team – Department of Legal Prosiquetion – whether they will have to re-register the FIR.

In her police complaint, Rhea Chakraborty had sought that an FIR be registered under IPC, NDPS Act and Telemedicine Practice Guidelines. She had accused Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and others of forgery and preparing a "fake" prescription of medicines for anxiety for the 34-year-old actor, who was found hanging in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14.

Reports were also rife that Sushant reportedly came across articles that were mentioning his name along with Disha Salian. He had also deleted hard disks with the help of his flatmate Siddharth Pithani, where there were mentions of the deceased celebrity manager.

Rhea Chakraborty was snapped leaving the Bandra police station late on Monday night, after recording her statement, with regards to the complaint she has filed against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Priyanka Singh. She had requested that an FIR be filed against Priyanka and others, under offences of forgery and providing a bogus medical prescription to Sushant Singh Rajput.
