Ashu Trikha is one director who believes in following his dreams, even if that means waiting for three years to realise them. Not one to follow the beaten path, the director is back with another hatke film, this time based on the crime scene in central India. Titled Baabarr, the film marks the debut of newcomer Soham along with actress Urvashi Sharma and also stars stalwarts like Mithun Chakraborty, Om Puri, Tinnu Anand and the talented Sushant Singh.
And Trikha in a bid to keep the film as close to real life as possible, not only shot in realistic locations, but also used genuine props including real guns. In fact, Sushant, who plays the main antagonist in the film, recalls his very first action sequence that he had to shoot at a real butchery. Ashu wanted the film to be totally realistic.
So we shot at real locations that included my first shot in a butchery. It was a fight sequence and we kept bumping into the caracasses that were hanging all around us. The place was full of the dead remains of the animals and the stench was also quite unbearable. It was ghastly shooting there, revealed Sushant. But being thorough professionals, the actors continued and the end result left everyone pleased. We were all pretty happy with the way the entire sequence finally shaped up. To get over that nauseating feeling and shoot that scene was quite a challenge, but we are all glad we lived up to it, the actor added. Well, with the director and casts penchant for realism, the film definitely seems to be one real entertainer to watch out for!
