Sunjay Kapur funeral: Karisma Kapoor accompanies kids Samaira and Kiaan for their father's last rites; Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan join grieving family

Industrialist Sunjay Kapur will be laid to rest in New Delhi on Thursday, June 19, with close family and friends gathering to pay their final respects. Among those at the funeral will be his former wife, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, who was seen accompanying their children — Samaira and Kiaan — at the airport.

Photos and videos doing the rounds on social media, saw Karisma standing by her two children's side at they cleared their security formalities at the Mumbai private airport and headed inside to board the plane. The three were seen dressed in all-white traditional ensembles as they rushed for the last rite rituals.

Supporting Karisma and her children during the emotionally charged ceremony were her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan, who joined the family on their flight.

The ceremony is reportedly set to take place at Lodhi Road Cremation Ground at 5 PM.

Kapur passed away on June 12, of a heart attack while playing polo in England. While initial reports attributed the cause to cardiac arrest, some later speculated a rare bee sting reaction may have triggered it. Sunjay's father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev, had confirmed earlier this week that once the post-mortem was complete in the UK, the body would be flown to India.

A prayer note released by the family, now widely circulated on social media, stated that a special prayer meet is scheduled to be held on Saturday. The note was signed by Sunjay’s mother Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, their son Azarias, daughter Safira, and Karisma's children — Samaira and Kiaan — who were included in the heartfelt tribute.
