Subhash Ghai fondly remembers Dilip Kumar: He was my Guru

Bollywood woke up to the unfortunate news of legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s demise. A heartbroken Subhash Ghai told ETimes, “I don't have any words to express my grief. Today is the saddest day of my life. I always prayed that this day should not come but I also wanted that he should go because he was suffering like nobody. The last 15 years was really very sad for him and for the industry, undoubtedly he was the man of match of this century of Indian cinema.I had worked with him in three films, he was my guru.”

The filmmaker also recorded a video message and shared, “And era has gone. His name is #DILIPKUMAR. He will be remembered in golden pages in the history of Indian cinema for centuries to come. RIP sahib.” Subahsh Ghai and Dilip Kumar had worked together on hits like 'Vidhaata' (1982), 'Karma' (1986) and 'Saudagar' (1991).
Dilip Kumar passed away at the age of 98, after a long and protracted illness. "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return," family friend Faisal Farooqui had posted from the veteran actor's Twitter handle. Dilip Kumar’s mortal remains were taken home and he will be laid to rest at the Juhu Qabrastan in Santacruz, Mumbai today.
