Director Amar Kaushik and the lead stars of ‘Stree’, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao along with the team, stepped out in full attendance to launch the film’s first official trailer at an event in Mumbai city. Dressed their best in stylish attire, the stars got candid about their film, the idea behind the horror-comedy, and also shared some of their own chilling experiences including run-ins with supernatural forces.

While the entire team in unison admitted being “fattus” in real life, director Amar went on to narrate how the idea to make the film came to be.

He said, “It was during a Maha Shivratri night, where we thought of staying up all night and participating in the festivities. It was there that someone said not to go to the edge of the hill because ‘a Stree lurks around there’. Intrigued, we went there and saw something moving. I don’t know what it was, but since then, we thought of making a horror comedy.”

After watching the first cut of the film, the stars admitted that they got the creeps and woke up in the middle of the night to check behind the curtains. Another shared an experience of shooting late night and actually capturing an image of faceless being that spooked them all. Shraddha, on the other hand, admitted, “I get scared of horror films, to begin with. I always keep a small light on at night. But, more than getting scared of ghosts, I get scared of horror films.”

Taking up from the film’s tagline, “Mard ko dard hoga,” the team spoke of the things that hurt them the most. Rajkummar said, "When I lost my mom, that was the most terrible time in my life."
His co-star Shraddha, on the other hand, said, “Heartbreak! Heartbreak is very painful.”

Speaking about taking on a lighter role in ‘Stree’, Shraddha said,“I had a great time working on this film. It was a good change as the other films I had been a part of, they've had a more intense zone. So being a part of a horror-comedy was fun.”
Meanwhile, Rajkummar earned a round of applause when he brushed aside being called a ‘hero’ saying, “I feel like an actor. I always want to feel like an actor. I don’t know this term hero. When someone brings me a script and says I play the hero, I ask them if that is the character’s name. What are the heroes? Heroes are the people fighting on the borders. We’re not heroes, we’re just doing our jobs.”
Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is scheduled to hit theatre screens on August 31.
