Stree 2: Meet Sunil Kumar, who plays Sarkata, and is in fact, a giant wrestler!

The movie Stree 2 is garnering great love from the audience, and fans are both terrorised and in awe of its supernatural antagonist. In this Amar Kaushik-directed horror-comedy, the headless antagonist Sarkata is causing chaos in the town of Chanderi. The role of Sarkata is portrayed by a towering 7.7-foot tall individual, known in wrestling circles as the Great Khali of Jammu. Originally named Sunil Kumar, this giant wrestler also serves as a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.


A deeper look into his background reveals that Sunil Kumar is also recognized by his wrestling name, ‘The Great Angaar.’ In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Amar Kaushik shared that his casting team discovered Kumar and chose him for the role due to his impressive height and physique. Kaushik explained that while Kumar’s body shots were used for the character, Sarkata’s face was created using CGI. Kumar is credited as Sarkata in the film’s end credits.

Outside of his cinematic roles, Kumar dedicates his time to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir as a constable. He also enjoys handball and volleyball and participated in a WWE Tryout in 2019. Born on December 16, 1990, Kumar aspires to represent India in the WWE Championship. Notably, he is five inches taller than the retired wrestler The Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana).


On his Instagram, Kumar has shared photos with actor Rajkummar Rao, who plays Vicky in Stree 2, and with Tamannaah Bhatia, who makes a special appearance as Shama. The sequel to the 2018 film Stree also features Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, with Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar making cameo appearances.


While on Stree 2, Shraddha Kapoor, the movie has been making waves at the box office, with its Monday earnings. The film is performing exceptionally well in mass circuits, particularly due to the Raksha Bandhan holiday.
According to Sacnilk, Stree 2 is likely to reach a nett collection of at least Rs 37 crore, driven by strong performances in Hindi mass markets. In just five days, the Amar Kaushik-directed film has already collected Rs 228.45 crore nett and is on track to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year in its first week alone.


The movie's first Monday is anticipated to rank among the top five all-time highest Monday grosses, with the potential to land in the top three if the mass circuits perform better than expected. Stree 2, which also features Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and a special appearance by Tamannaah Bhatia, crossed the Rs 200 crore mark on Sunday while topping its Friday numbers.
