Stebin Ben performed his first-ever live performance in Mumbai earlier this month. He rose to fame with chartbusters like Rula Ke Gaya Ishq and Thoda Thoda Pyaar, and is also popular for his renditions of Bollywood classics and independent music releases.
Talking about his style of live performances, Stebin who draws inspiration from the West and blends global influences with Indian touch, shares, “I have watched a lot of amazing artistes like Shawn Mendez and Justin Bieber. I try to bring in western culture but in a traditional style with, say, the infusion of sufism. You will get to hear classics from Kishore Kumar’s songs to the new ones. I get inspirations by seeing world performances and I take cues from a song or an artiste whose work goes viral.”
On the personal front, Stebin has often been linked with Kriti Sanon’s sister, Nupur. Addressing the rumours, he clarifies, “We are best of friends. We enjoy going out with each other, having lunch and dinners and spending a lot of time with each other. In fact, our families have become friends too now. We both have mutual interest in music. She’s a trained classical singer, but she didn’t pursue a career in music. That led to us liking each other’s personalities. She is a good human. So far we haven’t come to any conclusion (laughs). We are enjoying this friendship and being single.”
